i have to take the pill, i have no choice, when i was 21 years old my monthlys got to be every two weeks and i was put in hospital by the crippling pain , i have had 4 children and 3 were born natural with no drugs and my fourth was 9 weeks prem ,breach and his heart was stressing so they gave me an emergancy cecarian , the pain of each natural birth was different but it was worse pain to get over a c- section but this two weekly period pain was the worst pain i have evey expirianced in my life so far, morphine in high dose was needed for the first 6 days.
I had 8 months of tests and suffering until i changed my doctor and a female doctor that specialises in these kind of problems told me she was going to test for a problem that usually only occurs in ladys over 40 and no one had bothered to test me for this because at 21 your not expected to be at the stage in life to suffer such a problem , anyway sure enough it was positive ,i had endremetriosis and by then it had grown to the size of a cricket ball , in fact there was one attached to my bladder and another on my bowel very close to each other, the cure for this is to go through to change ,you know (no more monthlys at all )
they placed me on a drug called Danazol that reverses pubity, it stops the monthlys compleetly and all your pubic hair goes very thin or falls out a bit my breasts kind of shrunk a little and all my spots went lol it was heaven but you can only be on them for a year max , well you can imagine why....
then i had to go on the pill, i had 3 of my children by them any way and i didnt think i would have anymore but 5 years ago i got all broody and went off the pill to get pregnant, it took nearly 2 years for me to catch and when i did it was a really bad prgnancy i was very ill until he had to be born at 31 weeks gestation, but even though he was out of me i was still rather ill, he is nearly 3 now and i was ill up untill a year ago they did loads of tests and found that i had an underactive thyroid gland that needed urgent treatment, this was another problem they had not thought of because it was usuall people over 40 that suffer it, i must be old inside. it has weekened my heart so i can no longer take the pill so my endrometreosis is back with a vengence and i am having my womb removed when my health is at its best but until then ist very strong pain relief and alot of crying. .
please keep up with you pill checks , it is actually advised that you have a pill check every 6 months, beccause of problems like thrombosis and so on, your body dramaticly changes every 7 years and just like me you can be perfectly well one year and the next you r ill and at the doctors constantly, i hate this body its a great big let down, the internet is my best friend because i cant go out much, life can be very hard for me some days.
Big Hugs to you. :-) We are your friends.

Not only should all girlies keep up with their pill checks, but they should keep up with their smears as well. I went for one back in January after not having one for 8 years. Big mistake. I got my results letter yesterday and they have found pre-cancerous cells, so I have to go into hospital for further tests. Let that be a lesson to the rest of you.

shouldn't the doctor tell you when you need a pill check or a smear?? otherwise you could be pestering them all the time...will they tell you or do you have to keep track of it yourself??

They can ask you however it is up to you if you go or not. I kept getting letters but kept putting it off, which was totally my fault. I went to one doctor who was really rough and horrible, I felt like I was a piece of meat, I had to go back 4 times in 4 months because he couldn't do the test properly.

    Hi
Just a quick note to say the same thing happened to my cousin (pre-cancerous cells) which she had laser treatment for and is fine now, she has to have more frequent checkups I believe just to make sure but the treatment worked and she is now fine.....just thought ath might reassure you a little bit that the same thing happened to her and it was all ok

    good luck

When you need another prescription you should phone the surgery and book in for a "pill check" with the nurse. She will then get a doctor to sign a prescription (if everything is fine, or course) and you can pick it up the next day. I would NEVER skip my pill checks and I tell my mum off for not going for her HRT ones.

I got letters through the post from my doctors every 3 years for a smear test but i only ever let a female nurse do it because my first expiriance was really nasty and it was done by a male doctor, you have a right to demand a female doctor or nurse, with the pill i had to have a check every 6 month just blood pressure and a few questions but since i had my endremetriosis i have a smear every 6 monthe with examinations and stuff, i always bleed for a day or two after and it is quite painful too.
Please keep up with your smears and pill checks and talk to your doctor if you are worried about anything, don't be afraid to ask for a female nurse or doctor and dont take any excuses because if they cant do your smear for you with a female nurse or doctor there then you are allowed to go to your local hospital out patiants clinic for it and they have both female and male doctors and nurses there.
