    Hi,

Looking for some advice guys! Absolutely no reviews etc available on the LLM (Canon Law) offered by Cardiff.

The essence of my situation is that I am expecting to obtain the Open University LL.B next year, hopefully graded Pass 1 (Distinction).

Have absolutely no intention of going into Law as a career. My present career is a "job for life" with good benefits, salary, pension etc, but I have zero social life, by choice, so I have a lot of spare time on my hands, in which I like to research and learn.

    So:-

Has anyone on this forum ever completed the LLM (Canon Law) offered by Cardiff? Any reviews or comments?

Does anyone know of any other, law related, postgraduate courses in very niche/specialist areas of law? I'm looking for a challenge, something completely different, but within the field of law, (i.e. Admiralty/Armed Forces/War/Space etc)...

Essentially, any obscure areas of law related LLMs ...?

Must be in England & Wales though!

Your help, ideas & suggestions would be much appreciated.

I am most comfortable studying Law. Most of all, I enjoy it!

As I said, I have no intention of ever leaving my present job. I am fortunate that it is pretty much guaranteed for life and my salary only ever increases because my specialism is in short supply.

Even if I did go for an interview, is there really anything wrong with saying "I studied Canon Law for fun"?
I'd be impressed if a candidate said that to me!

My life is just Work-Study-Travel, in that order. Nice and simple.

I've met people who have done this and found it very rewarding. You do realise that it is a CofE course primarily. If you are interested in such things, Ken Pennington at the Catholic University of America has put online a complete lecture course in the history of RC canon law.

Although it is not the only place, the best place to do maritime law is Southampton. I am not sure whether it does a part-time option. Reading has a very flexible MA(Res) in legal history. Edinburgh has quite a number of online distance learning LLMs incuding Medical Law and Ethics. If you fancy an Oxford degree, it offers an online MSt in International Human Rights Law.

For a really off the wall suggestion, the University of Tulsa in Oklahoma offers an online Masters in Indian Law for people who are not lawyers. That is Indian as in Red Indian!

The place to go hunting for courses is here
