So im a gap year student who's personal statement is all about Midwifery. The thing is, through a lot reasearch I've realised that I really want to do Orthoptics -not Midwifery. I meet all the academic entrance requirements and have a lot of experience working with children etc.
Does anyone have any advice on what I could do to increase my chances of doing Orthoptics? Is Orthoptics ever in clearing? If it is, if I've got the grades would they automatically give me a place? Thanks for all advice in advance!

If you've decided that you definitely don't want to do midwifery then your best option at the moment is to consider using Extra. Liverpool and Sheffield are listed as having places available in Extra - contact them and see whether this is correct and ask whether they'd consider an application from you. You'd then be able to do a new personal statement and email it directly to the uni. As with most healthcare related courses the universities would probably want to interview even if you were an extra or clearing applicant because there's so much more than just grades when it comes to vocational courses. If you've had any offers for midwifery and that uni also offers orthopedics then you can contact them and ask about swapping courses.
