You wouldn't. Unless you have SA then you will never understand it.

That's not me having a go at you by the way, think of it like a heterosexual person not being able to understand homosexual attraction.
If you break it down and think about it, the fear is what people think of you.
Why don't you like to go on stage? I don't like to be the centre of attention.
Why don't you like to be the centre of attention? Because I might end up being stupid or awkward.
Why are you worried about being stupid or awkward? Because i'm worried what people will think of me.

If you look at it that way, the fear you have to conquer is not to be worried about what people think of you, instead of lots of little fears.

Then, why do you care about what people think of you? I don't really know.

It's like a fear of heights. You don't like standing on a ladder, you don't like standing on a bridge, you don't like going in a hot air balloon. You don't have a fear of these individually, you have a fear of heights.

Anxiety is irrational. That's the problem. A more rational and mindful mindset is part of the solution but people with SA just don't see things clearly. So saying "look at it like this" isn't a valid route towards getting that mindset - that method gives knowledge, not understanding.
That's no excuse to give up... but not the point.

50, my fear of public speaking seems to be the main highlight though... I am terrible at it plus I forget to breathe while speaking which is pretty bad

Thing is with social anxiety is you get so scared about something and it finally you bottle it and do it and ask yourself "Why did i even worry in the first place" expose is key to confidence i find.

I was diagnosed with social anxiety 2 years ago.
I just took the test now and got 90. I guess I need to start working on this.
