War, starvation, famine, desolation, Godless, wasteland.

Wait - that seems to be the impression we've all been given from the media... Hmmm..... :moon:

And yet, when we say "Europe" or "America", we somehow get some excellent picture of advanced societies, civilised beings, wealth, superiority and the place to be - and that's clearly not the case in many parts, especially now.

    Ah, the media...

It's like "Middle East" - we get war, suicide bombers, war, war, war, extremists, war, Islam, Islam, Islam. And yet, places like the UAE and whatnot build skyscrapers every day LOL.

Thank goodness China is speeding up its advancement by hundredfold - then the media's picture of European and American utopia will be silly.

Black starving children (blame those moving charity adverts)
Absolutely terrible. I used to watch that as I a child (despite being black myself) and I always used to think - Africa - sh1thole. Europe=Advanced and civilised.

Clearly, it was greatly interesting to find that Africa is not just a continent full of 1 billion starving children. Oh - and that Africa was not a country.

Continue to give a man aid and he will not bother to work. In other words, give a man a fish and he will be fed for a day. Teach a man how to fish and he will be fed for a lifetime. This is what I know now. But, then, with those adverts and aid and whatnot -the reasoning was different.

According to the map of the world (yeah, the map! ), the United States can slot into West Africa. The entire European continent, including Britain, but excluding Russia (ofc!) can lot into Central/Eastern Africa and we could probably get China and India squashed into Southern Africa.

Check the actual measurements of the continent and you'll see that it's much, much more larger than is let on by the media - incidentally, the media is said to make the US and Europe appear larger and more important than they actually are!

    A big country
    :ahee:
    Africa (Country Profile):

    Population - 1.034 billion

    Government - Federal Republic

    President - Mubaki Mbeki Buki

    Capital - Lagos

    Official Languages -
    English
    Yoruba
    French
    Swahili
    (and several hundreds more)

    Time Zones -

    Several

    Ethnic groups -

    Thousands

    Culture -

    Several thousand

    Religion -

    Several

Quite a large country, isn't it with many ethnic groups - China has 91.51% of its population as Han Chinese ethnic group, hence why it holds together. The country of Africa is ethnically diverse - indeed, over-diverse, wouldn't you say?
