PhD Interview Advice Please

Hi,

I have a PhD studentship interview on Monday. It is the first interview for a postgrad opportunity I have ever had, but it is a really good opportunity in an area I am interested in so really want to make a good impression.

Can anyone offer any advice on the sort of questions that will be asked/ questons to ask and any tips on how to prepare?

Thank you!
You need to come over as enthusiastic for your subject/chosen topic, with clear ideas about any problems (ie. data gathering, ethics etc) you might encounter and with good background knowledge.

Give clear, concise answers. Make them laugh if you can. But above all else, be a bright, confident, and interested person and show them you will 'enjoy' research and be a useful person to have in the Dept.

Look them all in the eye, smile a lot and say thank you at the end.

GOOD LUCK!
Be ready to talk about any research project you might have done- what was the question you were trying to answer, how did you go about it, what was the outcome?
