    Got to ask..

    Did anyone else get 195.2 for the relative atomic mass?

    For the fermentation question would it be C6H1206 ----> 2C2H5OH + 2CO2, then I put 25degrees and enzyme catalyst

    For the why does NO breakdown ozone is the correct equation
    NO + 03 --> NO2 + 02
    NO2 + 0 --> NO + 02

    Paper was good. The only ones that threw me off were the calculations!

    I wrote the word Ester for the question about functional group and then in brackets drew the COOH for carboxyls :| mark or not?

    It was carboxylic acid and double bond right?
    It was not a carboxylic acid. Carboxylic acid groups are --COOH. This one was --COOCH3.

    Yeh 195.2.

    Fermentation requires 37 degrees

    Would anaerobic conditions not be kind of important?
    any of those 3 would get you the mark, tis only a two mark question so

    It's annoying that the majority of the mistakes I made weren't to do with chemistry, but more to do with what the mark scheme won't accept. I can remember all the mechanisms and reactions, just the exam technique which threw me off mainly.

    Yes.

    Equation looks right. "Enzyme" would be too vague, you need either "zymase" or "yeast". Also 25 degrees is a bit on the cold side, but you might get away with it.

    For the why does NO breakdown ozone is the correct equation
    NO + 03 --> NO2 + 02
    NO2 + 0 --> NO + 02
    Looks good.

    Im pretty sure the essential conditions are 37 degrees and anaerobic conditions, not Yeast.

    Yeh 195.2.

    Fermentation requires 37 degrees
    There is a range and I believe 25 is within that range.

    I think I did okay!
    I made a few silly mistakes like forgetting how to do percentage yield, not knowing the equation for fermentation, not putting the + on the m/z thing etc... but I think I might have just scraped an A!

    the functional group is never C=C
    you need to say the alkene is the functional group in that case

    at least thats what my teacher always says
    I did that on a mock (put 'alkene') and my teacher told me I was wrong! He said that that's the name of the homologous series, not the functional group :confused:
