If someone gets U (unclassified) for a unit, will that grade appear on the final certificate?

They add up all the UMS scores to work out the overall qualification grade and that's what will be on the certificate. If the total of all units is U then there is no qualification and nothing will appear on the final certificate.

So if I only take one unit and the grade was U, will it appear as U for unit 1 or would nothing appear on the certificate (noting that the subject where U was scored for unit1 has been cashed in)

    And thank you for answering

If you have a U of any sort it will not appear on the certificate. (but if you have only taken 1 unit then it cannot have been cashed in - cashing in only applies to whole qualifications).

I understand the cashing in part I said I cashed in because I already applied for other units in that subject and then unit 1 result came out as U so I wanted to know if I can drop the subject with out having to worry about a U in my certificate. I think I'll have to talk to my examinations officer to remove the other units from the entry form.

Thanks a lot for for clarifying though.
But just to be sure, I only took the exam for the first unit and I got a U for it, that means that the entire subject will not appear on my certificate?

You are doubly safe. Firstly, the entries for the other units won't have been sent to Edexcel yet so withdrawing them and the cash-in request will be simple so Edexcel will never get a cash-in request for a certificate.

Secondly, even if you completed the qualification and got a U, Us do not appear on certificates - the subject is omitted from the certificate.

Thank you so much! You can't imagine how relieved I am
