Christie's Education / Sotheby's Institute - help!

How credible are these two schools for art history courses, especially at the postgraduate level? Do they stack up well against a recognised university degree or are they just glamour institutions that award worthless bits of fluff?

Most importantly, what are the chances of landing a job at either Christie's or Sotheby's upon graduation? The networking aspect looks very attractive in theory (shortcut to internship with an auction house and potential career in art world as opposed to being stuck in academia or admin-land, blahblahblah) but I'm not convinced it's worth getting up to the neck in debt for.

A plea from the heart for advice - anyone?!

As far as I know Christies is the better choice to go for. The first two years are spent in London at Christie's after which you achieve a diploma, you can then go on to Glasgow university for the next two years to complete the degree. It's defiantly different to any other art history course around given the hands on experience as well as the valuable networking opportunities. I can totally sympathise about the tuition fees :s I guess it all depends on which career path you want to take, certaintly you will be head hunted for jobs on the art world if you do enrol in the course, but if it's more academic work your interested in then I'm not so sure. Are you applying for the course too?
