Watch this and have a think. The video itself is pretty much irrelevant, but listen to what the guy is saying.

For me, as I'm getting older, I'm beginning to think of the simpler things in life. Like Lister in Red Dwarf, I have a 'plan'.

Get the girl, get a nice house, have some kids and plenty of animals running about the place. I'm only 22 though so it won't be for some years yet, I need to graduate uni for a start, but that's my plan.

I want to have a modest amount of money, though it doesn't drive me, so I'm able to live a comfortable life and go travelling a lot. Funnily enough, since I'm not going out getting pissed every week, I'm building up quite a travel fund.. I went Amsterdam last week for a few days which is a good start!

So, what do *you* want? Serious answers please.

I think I want a meaning to my life. I life in which my existence has been worthwhile for others.

I want to save the world.

As for my own life, I'd like to achieve satisfaction. Knowing that I did my best to achieve everything I desired, regardless of whether I achieved them or not. These days, I've learnt to let go of all expectation and comparison with others, just so isn't worth it. Not really interested in who knows my name or how much I know. Wouldn't mind leaving some kind of legacy behind though.

Yes I know this video. Alan Watts. Very inspiring.

I want to do what I love doing. Focus my time and energy on getting good at the things I enjoy. I want to have rich experiences and the freedom to do what I want. These aren't unreasonable things to ask for, they just require motivation, determination and self-belief in achieving them.

I want to travel to a few places, get married and be a good mother. I find it hard to motivate myself for a-levels because I don't care abut success or getting a good job. I think I'd be content working in a supermarket my whole life is I was surrounded by fun people.

All i want is to help people in any way possible, directly or indirectly whilst living life not too seriously. Travelling and having fun are also a must in my future. Wouldn't mind a range rover either haha.

I'd like to own my own house, have children, and make sure they're happy. I work as a writer, and would very much like to be successful at some point (well known I mean, rather than just working to earn a wage like I am now) but I am aware that that may be very much down to luck as much as anything else- although I am willing to put the work in, and the fact that I can do it anywhere means that having children wouldn't stop me from trying.

If you'd asked me this question even last week I would have given a completely different answer.. but something's happened this week to make me realise how important family are. I'm sure I could work my butt off and get a PhD (although it would take a lot of work because a) it's hard anyway and b) I generally have to try hard to achieve anything academically) and make a difference in the world of Psychology, but I have a feel that I would be able to make people appreciate my writing more than my academics. And I'm more likely to be happy doing that.

If money didn't exist and I could do whatever I could.... I would explore this planet

But in all fairness... I'm happy with my choices. Sure I'd love to travel all the time and develop my photography skills but my dream is to be a successful entrepreneur and doing office work is not boring. Having money in mind is good because it gives you an incentive to work hard. And what's life without incentives...

Why can't I have both? :unimpressed:

I want to be a research scientist, so hopefully imagination will at some point be useful in procuring the knowledge :awesome:

You can, but knowledge is limited, imagination encircles the world

To have gained profound knowledge somebody must have had an imagination.

I'm just stealing quotes from Einstein :ahee:
