Listen to Britney and S Club 7.

Not hearing "blood..." "cut..." will subconsciously do you wonders. Though we don't yet know the effects of hearing She's so lucky, she's a star but she cry, cry, cries in her lonely heart thinking: If there's nothing missing in my life, then why do these tears come at night? on repeat.

Experiment and tell us.

Hey that's good advice. I don't self-harm but I know some people who do. Anyway, those coping methods are good for mental health in general-thank you, I'll keep those in mind when I'm feeling stressed-A-levels coming up- Arrrrrrrgh!

I will check it out then if suitable add it to my list of links in the SH thread if that helps?
There is loads on here for those who have self harmed themselves, but is there anything for friends of those who have self harmed. Friends and family of self harmers be just as badly affected as self harmers themselves.
I just want to thank you Beki for this excellent thread. Some of the methods on here are gonna do me and others wonders. I self harm for the release of otherwise unbearable emotions and also cos sometimes im so numb it helps. However i know i have gone to far and well it would be lovely to stop  So thanks very much for the help :hugs:.

thats a great thread..
full of useful points.. i think there is a list of 151 distractions that i have that help too..
wow xxmessedupxx, this is a really good thread and those are all great ideas/methods/activities/exercises etc. Seriously, all of that is such great advice! As soon as I have posted enough posts to really give rep, I will rep you, because you definitely deserve it!

I especially liked the imitating selfharm section, I find that kind of thing really helpful. But one of the most helpful things is to have a friend who you can tell almost anything to, who you can describe your feeling to and who is always there to support you. With these kind of feelings, it's really important to have someone to talk to, just try and make sure that the other person can handle your feelings as well - i.e that they're a pretty balanced person and have the ability to support you.

And a journal, as was suggested above, is also a really great idea, because you can write down exactly how you feel and try and work through your own feelings at the same time, often it can help.

And anyone who ever wants a chat or anything, you're welcome to PM if you want to anytime.
