My friend, who is kind of an *******, frequently makes fun of me/insults me (he's okay a lot of the time and my other friends don't seem to care about his ****, and I like them, so I tolerate it), and when I get annoyed, he claims it is "banter".

    :shakecane:

A word used by *******s to justify being *******s

When people can't tell the different between 'Your' and 'You're'.

    I mean, SERIOUSLY!?

    You're = You are.

    GET IT RIGHT.
Why do you find that annoying?

"Like", when it is repeated ten times within the same sentence, without any meaning (this is probably more American than British?)

Also, swear words (unless there are reasons to use them - such as being in pain or something like that).

Yay! Another thread for us grammar/spelling Nazis!

People who can't tell the difference between "there", "their" and "they're".

I don't like it when people say "now and again", I've always said it as "now and then".

There's a girl in my culture seminars who speaks like this. No matter how insightful what she's saying is, I just can't get past all the "likes" and how they make it sound like she has no clue, or at best that she's uncertain.

WHAT words/phrases can't you stand because they sound horrible or make you shiver !

I don't like slang words mainly because I don't know what they mean nor understand the person saying them!

I don't like the phrase 'omnomnom' when people post pictures of their food on FB/ Twitter? WHY?

MY sister can't the stand the word 'bivvy'

So what about you, which words don't you like and WHY?
I fogot to add nomonom to my list too! It is incredibly annoying!!

Variations of LOL: l0l, lel, lul, loel, lawl. Both the word and concept of 'Banter' just piss me off.

I heard people saying 'that's so gay'. I think it may be offensive to some people. That's not a proper way to use the word anyway.
All kinds of slang words. I have no idea what they mean and am not planning to learn. It's kind of sad to hear and see people distort the language.

I hate it when chavs/chavvy type people in their chavvy accents go 'nice one'! What it wrong with the traditional way of saying 'thank you'?!

And I hate when people use lots of unneccessary numbers because they obviously just don't know how to actually count properly anymore for example 34803280454713470820237648957894 81748594.

    Urgh.

When people say "chop chop" to make you hurry up whilst doing something.

I find that so incredibly rude.
