    Hello ,

Explain why your confidence interval provides strong evidence that the mean exceeds the highest acceptable value of 12.0 micrograms/litre ( 2 marks)

I have calculated the mean to be 12.85 and the confidence interval to be between 12.21 and 13.49 , but I don't understand what the question is asking and how I would phrase it.

Anyone can please help thanks ( much appreciated )

This question boils down to what a confidence interval really is, so I'll share a definition that really helped me:

If you have a 95% confidence interval, then that means that if you repeated the experiment /measurement 100 times (assuming you were able to) in the same circumstances, then 95 of those 100 times your confidence interval would contain the "true" underlying thing that you are trying to measure.

    Does this help?

    Thank You ,

But what I don't understand is for 2 marks do you need 2 points ? , so basically if I say 95/100 times the confidence interval contains true measure of water bottles would that be enough ? ... Thanks

Humm I have no idea how to make two distinct points on that!
