Time for me to get involved with this thread again. I'm going to restart my attempts to learn Spanish.

By the way, just in case nobody's mentioned it here before (I haven't read through the thread), has everybody heard of http://www.duolingo.com/? They offer free courses in French, Spanish, German, Portuguese and Italian. I haven't been on it for long, but I feel as though I'm going along quite nicely.

Not really Bambirina helps me with the myriad of French and Italian mistakes I make. Ronove helps me when I have unnatural sounding German/when I say 'wie geht's MIT dir' -.- If I mess up my Spanish, Ronove is there for me too. My Dutch is guesswork. My Welsh relies on a grammar book half the time.

So. Ask me in ten years and we'll see where I am then. :3
Was werden wir ohne Ronove machen?

Well, ich weiss was ich machen wuerde: Ich wuerde schlechter Deutsch schreiben!

Il n'y a que deux salles de bain pour huit personnes?
:hoppy: <-- person hopping while queuing for bathroom
Oui, une salle de bain pour les filles et une pour les garçons. Mais je ne me fais pas de soucis, j'ai toujours eu des salles de bain pour au moins 3 personnes ... une de plus ne devrait pas faire trop de différence

I'm only in Year 11 next year, but I started Italian GCSE a year early as it was a class with people from my year and the year above. I'm the only one in my year wanting to do the A-Level so I have to join the year above's class again to do it.

Ma, quando sono in Year 12, ho l'intenzione di studiare A-Level Francese

Yesss "ervaring" is indeed the most common way of saying "experience" in Dutch.
"I've survived that terrible experience" would be "Ik heb die verschrikkelijke ervaring overleeft"
But what would I know, as my knowledge of Dutch is less useful to you than your own guesswork?

I might start just speaking them and people can constantly correct me instead of me jusr not posting in them

Ten years sounds like a plan

Who remembers this GCSE AQA anthology poem?

You ask me what I mean
by saying I have lost my tongue.
I ask you, what would you do
if you had two tongues in your mouth,
and lost the first one, the mother tongue,
and could not really know the other,
    the foreign tongue.
You could not use them both together
even if you thought that way.
And if you lived in a place you had to
    speak a foreign tongue,
    your mother tongue would rot,
rot and die in your mouth
until you had to spit it out.
I thought I spit it out
    but overnight while I dream,

(munay hutoo kay aakheejeebh aakhee bhasha)

    (may thoonky nakhi chay)

(parantoo rattray svupnama man bhasha pachi aavay chay)

(foolnee jaim man bhasha man jeebh)

    (modhama kheelay chay)

(fullnee jaim man bhasha man jeebh)

    (modhama pakay chay)

it grows back, a stump of a shoot
grows longer, grows moist, grows strong veins,
it ties the other tongue in knots,
the bud opens, the bud opens in my mouth,
it pushes the other tongue aside.
    Everytime I think I’ve forgotten,
I think I’ve lost the mother tongue,
it blossoms out of my mouth.

Ich fühle mich auch ein bisschen alt! My cohort was the last of all GCSE students to take that exam in the summer! Rather lucky...as the following year there was this national post-results day GCSE English grade boundaries outrage

Die Möglichkeit hat mir angeboten worden or Mir hat die Möglichkeit angeboten worden. I think. And then, das Angebot zu annehmen. You're right, it is a separable verb, but you don't separate it like that.

    Ronove,constantmeowage?
Mir wurde angeboten, ____? Ich wurde eingeladen, ____? Maybe? I struggle with this stuff because of Danish now - will be much better soon though when I can read some of my German stuff (we just arrived back in Denmark and I brought a good few books back - including Hammer if I remember correctly!).
