Do most of the single study rooms look like yours? And do you know how many people it is sharing a bathroom?
If you have anymore photos of like the indoor parts of the halls that would be amazing; they're disappointingly few on the ground but don't trouble yourself over it
Thank you for being so helpful again

See above re room types. I share mine with 3 other people because I'm at the end of the corridor, but at worst it's going to be about 6. I've never had to queue or anything, and the showers and loos are cleaned daily.
I'll try and get some pics, give me a few minutes.

Welp, this is pretty much all the important stuff. This sort of layout seems to be pretty standard across the halls, especially the newer ones.

Hey guys, current 1st year student living on University Park here - if you've got any questions about life in halls, feel free to ask! I'm in Sherwood by the way
hey, if you're staying im BGP can you just randomly go hang around in any hall that you choose like on University Park?

You can get into all the places that serve lunch and whatever, but your keycard will only work for your own hall. If you want to go visit a friend or someone who lives in a different hall, great - they can come and let you in, but you can't just go and lurk in random buildings

Me too :biggrin:No idea what it's like though, would be useful to know what people thought when they looked round/current students there
Ahh cool what are you going to study? I'm hoping for Law if my exams go smoothly!

All our single studies have a sink / dresser / mirror combo thing. Mine's a little unusual because of the dividing wall, most of them are just one room lol. I've got a slightly older room, some of them have had new desks and stuff put in, but it all still works fine!
I say it feels small, but there's actually about 240 of us  I'm in the smaller quad, and I know pretty much everyone on my floor. People tend to get on quite well. Our Karni team isn't as hardcore as some of the other halls but the rag raids and everything are still good, we have reps selling tickets for nights out and stuff each week and there's something on in town every night, plus all the hall stuff. We just had a big joint formal with 2 other halls, black tie and a sit down meal with live music and casino tables

Ahh thank you so much you're being so helpful to us newbies :L I was wondering how easy it is to get involved in the social side of things such as being on the JCR and planning socials?

Yep, there's inter-hall football, netball etc. BGP are treated as another hall for the purposes of Karni etc, so you have just as much fun :3

Lots of opportunities. JCR elections are fairly early during the first term, our new reps were announced at our first formal. Karni campaigning is much later and the new reps are revealed just before Christmas after an arduous selection process  The Week One and old Karni reps and old JCR look after you up to that point. Most of the nights out aren't organised as such, everyone just goes to the same place (Mondays at Oceana, Tuesdays at Market Bar, Wednesdays at Crisis, Thursdays at Forum, Fridays at Ocean...). People have organised their own charity events at clubs and stuff - if you're up for it, there's definitely plenty of ways to get involved! I'm a medic so I normally end up going out on all our own events as well, so it's been a busy two terms

EDIT - someone mentioned Freshers Week above, so I'll just say a little about mine
There's a different club event on every night of the week (with a different fancy dress theme for each hall each night!) culminating in the Week One Finale at the Capitol FM Arena. There's also loads of other stuff to get involved with - Freshers Fair is on all week (I scavenged enough free pens to last me till 3rd year at the very least - there's also free Domino's!), there was a trip to Alton Towers, an IKEA trip for those who'd forgotten anything, a comedy evening, pub quiz night, loads of stuff all round the uni. It's pretty intense - the hall events have buses to and from so you don't get lost or have to pay for taxis, and the Week one reps teach you all the hall chants and everything; there's just a really good atmosphere going and you'lll enjoy it  Saturday is the silent disco in the (now empty) freshers fair marquee; seriously, it was one of the most fun evenings I've had so far. Several thousand freshers in a giant tent, dancing furiously to 2 battling DJ's, all in complete silence

EDIT 2: Fancy dress is massive, they posted a list of which halls had which theme last year but be prepared for stuff like Baywatch, old school uniforms, caveman, army, onesies... There's a big shop set up in Portland building for all that stuff during the week so you can always fine-tune the outfits  They come in handy on rag raids too. Trust me, you don't want to have the worst costume on rag raid. Bad things happen
