    Apres être y parti, je suis allé à la banque pour retirer d’argent et je me suis rendu compte que je l’ai perdu.

    after having left there, i went to the bank to get some money out and i realised? that i lost it?

    well you need to put it in somewhere, else it doesnt make sense

    im not sure about your use of y there either.. i know its there and that, but im not sure it can be used in that context

    It can be understood...but it would make more sense if you said: Après mon départ, je suis allé à la banque pour retirer de l'argent mais je me suis rendu compte que j'avais perdu mon portefeuille. I think you mentioned having lost your wallet. Wallet in french is portefeuille.
