    Hi,

I'm going to be starting Uni at 22 years old.
    Is this really uncommon?
will I be able to party with the 18 and 19 year olds? Or will it be a bit weird for them?
can I date 18/19 year olds, or is that also weird?
Also, when I'm 24 I'll be hanging out with 20 year olds, is that odd?

I am in my first year at Uni and I'm turning 26 in April. People range in age at university from 18 to 50+. I am friends with a 23 year old mother of one, an 18 year old fresh from college and a 38 year old mother of 4. All different walks of life interact with each other at uni and it's not weird at all.

i'm a third year but live in halls this year. i'm 24. i get on absolutely fine with the people on my floor and hang out with them - it's not an issue imo there's some postgrads here too who are of a similar age (and a mature undergrad who's far older) and i don't think any of those that i know have had a problem at all

I know several people who have done this, and it's never held them back socially - they still socialise with the rest of us.

Don't forget that lots of people don't start uni fresh out of school - gap years are really common, which makes people 19/20 really common, plus some people drop out and restart.

No, I've found that the vast majority of people at my university tend to be 19/20 anyway due to gap years etc. And also nobody really asks you your age so until it's your birthday or something no one will know.

I expected everyone to be just out of college / sixth form. I was a year older than most as I took a year out. 22 is pretty young, a lot of people on my course are a lot older than that. As long as you take part in the student life nobody really notices age.
