I am a mature student (32) currently in my first year hnc studying electrical engineering. I will be going to university when I am finished and would like to stay in the midlands.

I have been contacting universities and I have been told that I can transfer to aston university into the second year of a three year degree.

i have also been told that because I am achieving distinction for every subject and have been predicted to carry on doing so I would be accepted at Warwick, though a transfer is not available and I would have to do 3 years total.

Finally Oxford have said that again a transfer is not available, but they would consider me for the four year engineering science degree, based on passing aptitude test and interview etc.

As I am 32 I would like to achieve a degree as quick as possible, but I also want to have the best possible education possible and make myself as employable as possible.

How much of an effect does the prestige of a university impact in a persons future career? Is it just of a case of, if you have a degree it doesnt really matter where it cam from.

    thank you for the advice
