I need to know what types of surfactants are used in topical creams and substances applied to the skin (spot creams, creams for eczema, cold sores etc). They tend to have 'active' ingredients and then a surfactant will act as the substance that assists in the transporting of the active ingredients.

I know soap is a surfactant, and many other substances but none I can consider would be safe to put into a medicine.
Anybody ever needed to know this-or just happen to know?

    Thank you!
