Yes! Computer Science with Industrial Placement (Hon) G401
just waiting for news on my accommodation since I'm classed as a local student. (even though I live like an hour journey away -_-)
Just thought I would drop by, as I've just created this account and also doing Computer Science (Game Engineering).

Ironic username, no?

Nearly all of the Maths there I've not come across at A Level, or I've briefly stumbled on ad parallel to it. I've done a Decision 1 Module, as part of my Further Maths so I understand the basics of what Trees/Graphs are; I've also done proof by induction before, but I've forgotten most of it, aha.

I'm sure the module is designed to not disadvantage those who didn't take Maths at A Level too much.

very ironic  What mathematics would you advise to revise ? I have got the book that they recommend for the mathematics module, has a lot of great learning methods for literally every mathematics concept. Any recommendations so that i have a bit of a head start..

Well, any "Decision Maths" seem to be the most relevant to computer science. Graph theory is a fundamental to many common algorithms including the A* algorithm, Djikstra's and finding Minimum Spanning Trees. However, pure mathematics is probably what you might want to start with. I don't think you really need to cover calculus that much, if at all, from what I can see on the modules listing.

Where about did you get the recommended reading list, for the modules? I'd love to check it out, assuming I am not going to be ripped to shreds by the exorbitant prices that textbook vendors charge.

If you go onto the module listing and choose a module, at the very bottom there should be a reading listen. Click that. For example the mathematics recommended link https://rlo.ncl.ac.uk/index.php/modules/CSC1025/2013

Thanks! I'll see if I can get some of these textbooks cheaply, or if I can loan them from a library.

Yup! I've already managed to get a few. I do prefer paper copies, but beggars can't be choosers in this case. I'll stick with the ebooks, whenever I can get them!

Links is possible please?

I have bought one, being for the mathematics module. Mainly because i'm really behind on that. Also, the library should have all the books we need, so no point wasting our money. Can go towards the freshers wristband instead!

I think we have various induction talks and activities most mornings throughout Freshers week. Here's the timetable for Biology freshers, I guess it'll be like that but in the CS department.

I'm doing BSc Computer Science (Bio-computing) & I'm from down south.

I found it online, it seems like the Bio department is the only one to have done so so far. I'll let you know if I see the CS one appear.
