I got punched in the face yesterday in an unprovoked attack and my eye is hurting very badly. I don't know if I should go to the hospital.

I got punched in the same eye 2 years ago in another unprovoked attack by a different person, I didn't go to hospital for that either but my eye has never been right since then, it often feels very heavy and sore and twitchy since and now I have been punched in that same eye again, my eye is very sore, I think it may be fractured??

I have arranged a life as I don't want to risk driving with only one functioning eye. Do you think they'll question why I didn't go into hospital yesterday?

If they do, don't worry. Your priority is your health.

Might need an xray. I had one on my eye as a kid due to an accident. Tripped up the kerb and whacked my eye on someones cobbled stone path. Had to wear glasses since. Definately should go doctors.

They are there to treat people, that's all. If they do ask why you didn't go to hospital yesterday, they will only be asking in order to understand your injury, not to enquire about your motives. Go to A&E now, and take a book, because they'll probably be busy on a Saturday night.

Most people don't get attacked with no provocation twice, either you're very unlucky or you're annoying people more than you realise.

But yeah go and get it checked out, I know its only one punch but with the eyes you can never be too careful.

A punch on its own cant kill you, it's the landing. If you go down and hit your head with too much force in the wrong place it can kill but the same can be said for falling over and landing that way.

Given that it happened a couple of days ago and you're ok to type on here, I'd be less inclined to recommend A&E and instead would go to your local minor injuries unit tomorrow.

Trust me, you don't want to be in casualty tonight, I've been to two and it's hellish.

More to the point, what happened to you? Did the hospital give you an all-clear?

Definitely get that checked out with the GP or at A&E.
It's better to be safe than sorry
