So do you guys play tennis or are you just fans of watching the sport on TV?
    Both

At the moment, however, it's a little bit quiet - presumably because the 2013 season is coming to an end

I used to watch tennis regularly but my interest took a nose-dive when Ralph came back into the ascendency. I may get back into it if he breaks a leg or retires or something like that. I've never played the game.

At last some encouraging signs from Federer. Those last 2 sets displayed a level of tennis and confidence that I've not seen from him on a consistent basis since the Australian Open.

Both, although I haven't played for a while now. And also with Federer struggling, I hardly get to watch tennis nowadays, as he always loses early. However, I do keep up with the live scores and if I see that Nadal is on the brink of defeat, I quickly find the stream to see my least favourite player lose.

I feel the same way. It seems that you hate Nadal just as much as I hate him. Speaking of Nadal, where is his biggest fanboy?

I wouldn't say that I "hate" Ralph, his fangirls on the otherhand... (present company excluded).

But yeah, I don't mind him too much as a person but as a tennis player he is viscerally offensive to me. The fact that he has been able to defeat a player like Federer so easily with that style of play of his to me feels like an inversion of natural order. It bothers me on a philosophical level.

Don't know about our dear friend ubi1. Perhaps he is resting up in preparation for an explosive comeback in the clay-court season!

I think i'm one of the rare people who loves both, Fed is 1, Nadal is 2, Del Potro 3.

I know that some find Nadal boring to watch (Fed can be pornographic) but i actually love how both play, it's such a contrast but the ability of both is incredible.

Speaking of Fed, do you guys think we will finally get to see Papa Fed vs Baby Fed or Dimitrov will prevent that from happening again by losing to the ever funky Dolgopolov?

Why do you hate Nadal so much? And Nole, for that matter.

I don't mind Nole and I don't hate Nadal so much. I just feel that he is way overrated. I mean, come on would he be anything but a mere clay courter if the majority of the conditions and surfaces weren't slow. And let's not even talk about his strange quirks. I mean, who picks their butt in public?

Dimitrov is so overated. Only Raonic of the new generation can really be hailed as a future star (or perhaps Jancowicz) based on performance since Tomic has flopped harder than a floppy disk.

While i respect Nole and Murray for their success and athleticism i don't actually like them. I find their style of play to be pretty rigid which makes it a bit boring for me. Nadal plays the percentages too often but he can variate a lot, Federer just makes the game oh so beautiful and Del Potro at times is one of the few players who can make me go "Oh wow".

    Who do you follow?

I'm completely with you on Del Potro. I'm also fond of Soderling, Rosol, Darcis, and Zeballos.

But in all seriousness Nadal can be fun to watch IF he is playing a high-quality opponent like Djokovic. Otherwise it's like watching paint dry to be honest.

I really haven't been on this forum due to a number of factors,
    1. Due to Plusnet did not have an Internet connection through the entire Asian Swing so missed a load of terrific matches and so kept away from the forum
    2. Now that I do have Internet its the short indoor part of the season which I always never seem to get into apart from the WTFs. Also feel like I have less time to watch tennis. Although I have been watching the WTA championships although am happy Li Na is playing well really disappointed that Azarenka is playing horrible and as much as I like Sernena wish someone out of the top 8 in the world would challenge her; was really hoping for the Kvitova-Williams match to set the tournament alight but Kvitova never hit full gear and Serena just bulldozed past her.

    3. Also got really tired of the fanboys, cough*ub1* cough, and the thread seemed to get dominated by mud slinging on both sides from Federer and Nadal fans

    4. Also this is a bit of a stupid reason but my favourite player(Murray) as you all probably know is out with the back so that contributed as well.

Although will try(unfortunately for all of you) post more.

Baby Fed vs Daddy Fed is what the media is calling it, who do people think will emerge victorious? I think Federer in 3 sets.

Also interesting question given Federer has been declining relatuve to his own standards meanwhile Ferrer has literally fallen off a cliff in terms of performance since the FO who do you think will retire first out of Federer and Ferrer?

Absolutely love my tennis, in terms of playing it's my favourite sport.

@usamakhanklodhi- Watched a bit of the WTA event in Istanbul a couple of days ago, as you say Azarenka was pretty poor but did enough. I think Errani being the ''female Ferrer'' is a very good comparison... neither have big weapons, but both are more than competent players and both move extremely well. Also on a personal level I'm more disappointed that Radwanska is out... I love watching her play tennis but I can't help but feel she needs to adapt her game.

As for Dimitrov vs Federer, I wasn't aware that was on. Is it on TV?

As for the Federer/Ferrer question my personal prediction is that Federer might retire at the end of next season if he can't get back to a higher level... I can see Ferrer going for at least another two seasons if not more though.

I expect Federer to win the match in straight sets. Dimitrov will probably be in awe playing his daddy, so Fed will teach him a thing or not.

And Federer will probably retire at the end of next year, if he has another year similar to this one. Ferrer can/will probably go on until like 35 or something.

Hey man, good to hear from you again after so long

For the Fed vs Dimitrov match, I think the winner of the first set will win the match.

Out of Fed and Ferrer - if Federer really believes that he can play at Rio in 2016, then I think he'll retire later. He doesn't need to prove much more anyway. Are they roughly the same age?

Dimitrov really needs to become stronger mentally if he's going to become a top player.
