    Hi!

Long story short, I work in a store part-time and go to Uni. When i started back in May 2012, I worked in the food hall. I really quite liked it. They continued renewing my contract, but at Christmas, they got rid of all the temporary staff, didn't renew our contracts and so we needed to apply for the few jobs left. Since January, I've been working out in the warehouse.

I still see the people I used to work with, and everyone there is really friendly, but I want to move back into the food hall. I preferred it. There's news of new contracts coming in next week or in April. My current warehouse contract ends next Saturday. The warehouse section Manager said he'll probably be keeping us on and may be made permanent.

I've told the foodhall supervisors/Managers i'd like to move back. The warehouse manager told me he'll ring me to say if they will be offering me a new contract.

Basically, before he works it all out to see if there is still a position for me and what hours other staff can work, I'd like to tell him over the phone (next time I see him, it'll be too late), that if possible, i'd like to move back to the foodhall.

In the politest and non-rude way possible, what could I say over the phone to him? Something that'd sound nice, grateful that he may be keeping me on, but i'd really love my old job back!

I was going to tell him in person yesterday, but it was so busy and I didn't have the chance to. I'd go there and see him, but with the hours he's in and when i've got lessons, it's not possible.

    Thanks!

Just call him and say you enjoy working in the food-hall and would like to move back there if possible. I don't think you're making an unreasonable request, just making your preference known.

    Haha maybe not

I said although I've liked working with everyone out in the warehouse, as I started out in the foodhall, I did really like it in there, and I asked if there were any new contracts coming up in that section of the store.

He just said "Is that the area you'd prefer?" so I just said yes, he seemed fine about everything and said he'd let me know what happens.

    I worry over nothing

    Thank you for your reply!
