I get so bogged down in it. Some is interesting, other bits aren't. I just don't know how to study it at all.

    Any advice?

I am studying como agua para chocolate and it is amazing!!! I use spark notes to help with meaning and shmoop for key quotes to start me off...then I tackle it a chapter at a time to get some depth. Reading the English version or seeing a film also helps another way is to tackle it a theme at a time and also to study around the subject to give variety eg books of a similar genre, films that take it as inspiration or its history. Find what aspect interests you and concentrate on that. Hope that helps
