Year 12s: what will be the first way you research your future options? >>

UCAS Extra

Hiya! just a wee question to see if anyone has ever applied to UCAS Extra previously? My chances of getting nto Midwifery this year are looking pretty slim, but I know i have everything I need for Nursing. I've read into UCAS Extra & its probablygoing to have to be my back up plan, but Ijust wondered if anyone had ever done it before :smile:

Yeah, I've done it.

In 2010, I applied for Economics at Lancaster through Extra. Got the offer, and also the scholarship they offered there.

But once I got there, I realised I didn't like the course and I felt I could get to a better university. And I dropped out.

I now study at UCL, and loving it :smile:

My advice would be not to rush into it, as I did. I was just desperate to go to university that year and so applied though Extra for whatever courses were available. Turns out, it was better for me to take a year out and re-apply.

Ah that's excellent! thankyou very much, I'm glad you finally got something you enjoyed. I rushed into it last year, but realised I wanted to travel & was only applying for uni to please others & not myself. but this year I really want to apply myself & want to pursue a career in nursing, purely for myself this time. I enjoy working with the service I'm in just now but would love to take on the degree in nursing & better myself :smile:
