My parents are separated but not officially, they have been like this for years. They tell me they haven't separated yet due to financial reasons, whatever that means. Anyway I live with my Dad and I am obviously applying for Student Finance but SF want evidence of my father's separation from my mum but they have none, well nothing legally binding! What the frick do I do? Any ideas would be useful.

Edit: Checked the SFE website thoroughly and found a piece of information which helps me. It was well hidden! It says that I can send a Council Tax bill showing the 25 per cent discount for single occupancy as evidence. I'll just call and ask for confirmation.

SFE demand proof of separation. Usually it has to be a solicitor's letter.

Hence the question of what should I do? Seeing as I have no proof.
