    Hi all,

Bit of an odd request: I'm looking for an evening dress with long sleeves, or a good combination of dress and something to go over.

Back-story: I sing in a barbershop quartet (not as random as it sounds!) and for national finals (which we're hoping to make it to) the 'done thing' is to sing in evening dress. (e.g. here are some friends of ours: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0XScxqCeEOQ)

The problem we have is that our tenor has fairly bad self-harming scars, which she's very self-conscious about: and there's just no hiding them with make-up etc. For the lower levels we have a blazer and black-underneath combo (think Sandi at the end of Grease, with a blazer) but for finals we really need floor-length dresses.

I am the least clothing-savvy person, but has anybody got any ideas for suitable dresses (I can find long-sleeved short dresses, or no-sleeved long-dresses, but nothing with both) or an idea for a pretty long-sleeved shrug type thing that would actually look good over a dress?

(Also, strapless is out as two of the girls have sooooo much boob - and part of the reason for going floor-length is that I'm a good 6 inches taller than the shortest one, and believe it or not they actually deduct points for skirt lengths differing too much!)

    Thanks for the help!

could try a normal spaghetti strap dress with a long sleeved bolero jacket like this:

this is nice..should reach the floor if no one wears too high heels http://www.houseoffraser.co.uk/JS+Co...efault,pd.html

    -jacket as above
-a dressmaker/alterations could add chiffon or light sleeves to alter a dress (often these are attached to high street shops, vintage shops, ironing or laundry businesses)
-Red Cross camouflage service - in hospital dermatology clinics - needs GP referral usually

    best wishes

Hi, sorry I don't have the time to research a few options for you but I'd recommend either black lace or black velvet dresses with long sleeves as they give off an elegant vibe. :-) From memory ASOS have a variety of long sleeved styles!
