City University Accommodation 2013

I've finally found the confidence to search for accommodation. :borat:

I know some of the prices seem extortionate, but shouldn't that be just about covered by the extra finance offered due to City being in London? Does anybody have any suggestions to where the best halls are? For example, the best social interaction, nice area, partylife etc etc. I'm currently looking at the Canto Court which looks amazing! Even though the price is quite expensive for student life, I would love to live there for the first year and then move out to cheaper accommodation the next. Where is everybody looking to apply for accommodation? I feel lost :frown:

Heyy dude, same probelm here for me as well.
I've been looking at mansion student's site, and it seems the accommodations quite nice as well and it's not as expensive as Canto court. But still living in London cost heap loads of money:frown: and I would love to find somewhere near the uni as well. Whats your budget per week?

I'm really stuck. And I haven't worked it out yet, but I think it would be quite an average budget.

I've been looking at some private halls too, and i've found some pretty good cheaper ones than the uni halls.

http://www.cassandclaredale.co.uk/ around £120p/w

http://www.lhalondon.com/uk/pages/hostels/rates.aspx
This website has a couple of different halls, some self-catered, some with ensuite around £180p/w (120p/w if you want to share a room)

The curve - claims it's the cheapest halls in zone 1! around £200p/w 43/51 week contracts.

Theres also Victora hall, but this is in Wembley so not really near to the uni at all. £178p/w

I've seen others but they're 51 week contracts!
Hi
Im having the same problem!! Iv been looking at the halls too, but they seem quiet pricey! I have been looking at renting a bit further out...but still along the northern line, some of the studios are quiet decent!
@ lloynd, I was also looking at the CASS buildings but they're in Hackney ! Would that be safe area for a girl to be walking alone in ? Google street view didn't really help but to reinforce my opinion on this...maybe I'm just paranoid..but
I have been able to find http://www.flatmaterooms.co.uk/ quite useful

Like every borough in London, Hackney has both good and 'bad' areas so you'd have to be a bit more specific. The western border of Hackney is right next to City University so if you can find a decent price you could save quite a bit.

@tiny gold key I know what you mean. The Clarendale house looks like it might be in a better area (Bethnal Green) as it looks gated and also a little closer to City Uni.

Hi again, I'm travelling down from Lancashire so if anyone has any ideas on accomodation give me a shout. I can't believe its over £200 per week!!!

Hey Rryann, if you have a look at my post a couple of posts above I've listed the cheapest private halls I could find that are relatively nearby.
I've also thought about houseshare, but I have no idea where to begin to look!

Thanks  I looked, the curve looked nice but I've still no clue, how close or anything is!?!? What will you be studying?
I think I'm going to apply for one the halls on the university website, does anyone know if the applications have been opened ?

Should be, I applied to east central house yesterday.

Compared to my sister at Bath it is very pricey, especially considering I only live about 15mins away from City! :colondollar:

That's where I am going to apply for a classic en suite, it is very pricey but only a short walk from the university so it's convenient
