In the spec, is states that deforestation may occur to clear land for growing crops from which ethanol-based biofuels may be produced.

I doubt we need to know too much detail about how it is done, but a simple outline of the production of ethanol may be useful... This is what I've memorised:

Glucose (derived from sugarcane juices or by the action of carbohydrase on maize starch) is broken down by the anaerobic respiration of yeast (fermentation), producing ethanol and CO2. Ethanol may be mixed with petrol to power cars, popular in Brazil where it is nicknamed 'gasohol'.

I may be wrong, but I believe that the deadline was a couple of weeks ago. However, your school may still be able to enter you for it, but it may be expensive. Speak to your teachers about it.

Which exam did you want to retake?

Dont worry. I've checked it with AQA. You can enter until the day before the exam, but it will cost me a fee which is less than a tenner but I have to go check in school tomorrow to see if they will allow me.

What were your results? I done the same ones as you, other than bio ( I done photosynthesis).

I got full marks in all, other than bio (44 (98 UMS))
    44 is 100 ums

    yes and no

    • both coureworks are out of 50
    • same time for both of them
    • same 9 mark question in first test
    • both coursework's divided into two tests
    • both tests very similar, in fact some questions are identical

No idea then, would be nice for boundaries to be 44=100 UMS though

out of curiosity, did your triple science teachers spend a lot of time on how to answer the ISA questions, my bio and physics teacher did yet chemistry teacher said: 'OK we'll be doing the ISA test next lesson so go home and find some information on self-heating cans'

I wouldn't make an assumption based on the Science A grade boundaries as the coursework has always been out of 50. The ISA's are also slightly different if you compare the specimen papers to the one's we do.
