Have chosen Worcester as my first choice, and been offered a place on the Early Years Professional practice degree starting in September 2013. I'm just finishing an Access course which has been brilliant and I've made loads of friends, but nobody has been doing the same pathway as me, and no-one is going to Worcester.....

Time to start fresh somewhere else! I went to the Worcester visit day which was really good and useful, but didn't see ANY mature students doing my course and have got a feeling that maybe the course appeals more to school leavers. And as much as I get on with anyone and everyone, it would be lovely to meet other mature students who are set to start at Worcester too!

I'm currently living near Bath, but we're moving to just outside of Worcester in the first week or second week of April. Is there ANYONE out there who is a mature student, and starting at Worcester Uni this September? Would be lovely to hear from you and get to know you!

Hello! I also will start a MA degree at Worcester in September. Although not on your path but in Creative Media, I would still like to get to know more students that will begin in September.

    Hope to talk some more!

    Have a nice week!

I will be doing Early Childhood at Worcester, and will be 21 when it starts. Not really a mature student, but nice to have found someone else who will be on the course

Where do you both come from? Will you be new to Worcester or are you from the area? Are you really excited about starting or a bit nervous? It's great to hear from others who are going to Worcester. I say I'm a mature student because age wise I am, but mentally I'm not.....I'm really quite silly.

I currently live just outside of Bath in Wiltshire, but we've sold our house so we'll be moving up to just outside of Worcester soon. I'm really looking forward to starting Uni and meeting lots of new people.

Did either of you go to the Visit days at Worcester where you got mock lectures etc?

I live near to Worcester so will stay living at home, for now at least.

    Excited and nervous really

Where abouts will you be moving to?

If it does appear to be a course that appeals more to younger ones I will feel a bit old there haha.

Ive missed the visit days but have visited many times before, did you? What did you think?

Where abouts near Worcester are you? We're moving to sort of half way between Bishops Frome and Stoke Lacy. We're just waiting for the date for completion to come through, and then we'll be on our way. I'm just finishing a college course (for 5 weeks left) so will probably be going backwards and forwards between Worcester and Bath for a while until it's all done.

Are you going straight onto the course with A-levels or have you had to do an Access to HE course? I had A-levels but I did them years ago so needed to do an access course to apply to Uni. It's been great though - I've got a lot out of it. More in the lines of confidence than academic stuff really.

I went to a visit day, where we had some finance talks and introduction talks in the morning, and then a mock lecture in the afternoon. It was cool but I think everyone was so nervous - didn't really get to talk to or meet many people. Probably talked to the tutors more than anything. We all just sort of sat there looking a bit scared. Could also be that I was quite a bit older than most people, and as a result people don't know what to expect (everyone looked 18). I'm hoping that me being older isn't going to be a big deal. I'm 33 and in some ways I'm probably very different to others, but I'm really quite silly and good fun so age shouldn't matter. I've got on really well with the 19 year olds on the Access course at college so it should be okay :-S

Have you heard from anyone else starting on the course in September? What do you want to do with the degree afterwards? Do you have a set direction?

    Sorry about the late reply...

I'm from Brasov, Romania. I've never been to Worcester or to the UK for that matter. I have applied for housing in campus and out of campus and hope to get the best deal...and by deal I mean low rent, interesting people in the dorm and peace and quiet to study.
I'm very excited about this new journey. I've been an international student before, but just for half a year...now I'm hoping to double the fun and the challenges.

I heard a lot of interesting facts about Bath and about it's main attraction, the roman thermal baths. We also have similar ones in Romania, so it would be awesome to visit and compare.

I'm so glad I get to talk to you guys here...it brings me closer to the wonderful experience that awaits.

What are you going to study? I'm studying Early Childhood professional practice, but I may do postgraduate studies afterwards to specialise in something rather than work as a primary teacher or nursery teacher.

I'm excited now. So many people have told me that University is the best experience of their lives, and it's where you meet your closest friends, and build your future etc. We're moving to a small cottage just outside of Worcester, on a lane with nothing but a farm so it's going to be lovely and quiet to study in! I've grown up in and around Bath, other than 4 years where I lived in London, so it's going to be very different but brilliant to experience Worcester. I've visited there lots and it's a wonderful place!

I'm studying Creative Media, MA degree.

I'm 24 years old. I'm thrilled to hear that Worcester is such a wonderful place! I hear it's has everything: lots of parks and gardens, cultural institutions and places to hag out in the city...everything that a student can wish for. So yeeey! I hope Worcester will be quiet and still full of life...I do not doubt it will be awesome all in all.

I'm thinking of joining some student NGO or any NGO that has to do with arts, social or environmental protection. I also look forward to exploring the cities around Worcester and visit Ireland...
I have a lot in mind and only hope I have the time and the money to accomplish at least some of my wishes.

Thats a great place. I remember going on a hitch hiking trip there many years ago. We were looking for wild bears but never saw any! I miss my time in Romania, such great people and easy to hitch hike day or night

I totally love it. I was okay at school - top set for a few things, but not really a mega high achiever. I wasn't really all that motivated then though. I started this Access course wondering whether I'd be able to do okay, and get a place at Uni, and have STUNNED myself

I've loved every single minute of it, and have got distinctions in every assignment. My English tutor says I'm functioning at undergraduate level already and I can achieve anything I want......I applied to The University of Bath, The University of Worcester, The University of Gloucestershire, and UWE, thinking that I stood no chance getting into Bath and I'd be lucky to get into Worcester or Gloucestershire. I got offers from all of them! I feel like I've got myself wrong all of these years and I'm really excited about starting University so that I can see what else I can achieve!

Instead of settling for anything, I'm now thinking about jobs and what I'd like to do, rather than ruling things out because I didn't think I could do them. I can't recommend Access courses enough - the method of teaching is totally different, the expectations are high and the work load immense, but if you put the work in, they REALLY do get you where you want to go!

Phew! Im so glad to hear there are some other mature students starting Worcester in September! I was starting to worry i would be on my own in a sea of youngsters!

I'm Sarah I'm 27 and will be starting Business, Management and Economics in September. I live in Redditch which is a 40 minute commute, but there's not really another uni closer so that's fine.

I'm quite nervous about starting to study again as it's been several years since i've had to do anything like write essays etc, but on the open day the head lecturer for business said it's mainly project work, which i can do.
