I am thinking of doing an Finance course at Uni with maybe Accounting, Banking or Business. Something down those 4 subjects.

What sort of subjects should I take?
Is maths needed? Is stats good instead?
Is a B at GCSE good enough for Maths?

Im generally good at History, Geography and Business at GCSE.

So was thinking of: History, Geography Business, Economics, Stats as my main options (will only take 4)

    Any suggestiveness is much appreciated.
    Thank you

If you look at the requirements for Finance courses, you'll see that Maths to A2 is absolutely essential.

London School of Economics. Course: Statistics with Finance: "Usual standard offer: A level: grades A A A including Mathematics. Further Mathematics is highly desirable"

University of Bath. Course: Accounting and Finance: "AAA (with an A in Maths required)"

University of Warwick. Course: Accounting and Finance: "A Level AAA + AS Level B or A*AA. Essential subjects: at least an A in A level Maths or Further Maths, or 5 in IB Higher level Maths or equivalent in other Maths qualifications."

So a good combination would be: Maths, History, Economics and Further Maths or another subject of your choice.

    Hi OliPirie98

Different universities will have different requirements so it would be good to start looking at various prospectuses or websites to get a feel for what they are looking for.

I work in Admissions at the University of Bath. As one of the posters above mentioned, you do need an A in A Level Maths or equivalent other qualification (are you taking A Levels?) for entry onto our Accounting and Finance programme. Our online prospectus also provides a list of preferred other subjects: http://www.bath.ac.uk/study/ug/prosp...y-requirements.

Your subjects look fairly suitable, except many HEIs do not like the combination of business and economics. You may wish to consider an alternative subject instead of business.

Hope that is helpful - let me know if I can provide any further information.
