    Hi there,
recently i have been considering taking the Cambridge lower 6th exam to boost my personal statement (providing i get a reasonable mark if i did it) but i have been unsure about it, my main question is if i do complete it and get a bronze or worse could I be scrutinised against when i apply to a university? I have really been hoping to study chemistry at Cambridge or Oxford after college, so far i am on 100 UMS after my first exam but i haven't got any extra things i can use to support me. Any help is appreciated

it might help or it might not. it might all come down to how well you respond in interviews if you get called up. mind you, cambridge still does aptitude tests for their nat sci applicants. school UMS gives oxbridge tutors of how good you are, but gives no true indication of how good you can be in few years time. after all, you must have known that school chemistry is quite different and much simpler than university chemistry.

you should be wanting to try out challenging competitions not only because you want to impress the oxbridge tutors - it should be what you want to do to gain further knowledge.

plus, you still need to ace your remaining AS exams to be more secure with getting an interview.
