Urgent Help on a JSA matter Watch

    Hi,

I'm doing a charity event which involve spending roughly a week abroad. I've done it for the last 3 years whilst at uni and since I'm still unemployed and have "free-time", I've signed up this year aswell.
You only have to pay the flight (40£ return) and your food expenses.

I''ve been on JSA for 4 weeks, and unfortunately, I'll have to miss my signing day in 4 weeks time (so the one in 2 weeks time, I'll still be in the uk).

Can someone give me any advice on how to tackle this situation?

I'm currently in the process of claiming housing benefits (I going into debt in order to pay my rent) so loosing my JSA will be devastating for me.

A friend told me to avoid at all cost to pronounce the word "abroad" at the jobcenter.

So what are my other options? Can I call in the morning (on the day of my signing) and ask to reschedule it the next day? My flight is on the same day as the signing but I only arrive late at night.

Thanks for any of your help
And if people don't want to help me, kindly to judge or give bad comments.

You won't be able to change your signing on date. You have to tell the job centre before you go away. Unless you're seeking work whilst abroad, you won't get JSA.

I cannot call sick in the morning and sign in the next day?
    It's for a good cause

No. And we don't encourage fraud / illegal activity on here either.

Whats more important, your Housing Benefit and JSA or this charity, im sure they can easily find someone to do it instead - Charity begins at home!
