    Could someone check/confirm if I'm understanding this diagram properly.

    Am I right in saying;

    EMF = 4.5V
    Load resistance (R) = 1.5(ohms)
    Internal resistance (r) = 6(ohms) and 9(ohms) connected in parallel to each other so, total internal resistance = 3.6(ohms) calculated using 1/Rtotal method.

    I think you've got internal and external reversed.

    The clue is in the words internal (i.e. the power sources internal resistance) and external (i.e. the circuit resistance connected externally to the power source).
