..or does it mean someone put something there?

I never used to get this at home, but here in the UK there are sometimes little goodies there. Do companies really go around and put freebies in mailboxes?

Hmm, never received any freebies directly from companies, only through websites

Maybe you're taking someone else's parcels?

It's a box for all the apartments (6) in one. There have been several freebies in there and not addressed to anyone.

Yeah, me too. But I share mailbox with 6 other flats. It's more realistic that those are freebies rather than that someone put them there for a reason?
    They are small, packed individuals.

I think it's normal to get freebies? We sometimes get little shampoo or hand lotion samples, and once we got a small box of cereal through our letterbox (everyone in the area got one)
