Hi everyone, I currently have offers from both Newcastle and Sheffield to study undergraduate medicine in september 2013 though I'm finding it really difficult to decide between the two. N.B. my sheffield offer is for the foundation course as I have not studied chemistry at A Level, however my Newcastle offer is for the standard course.
Any advice or opinions would be much appreciated!

I'm really biased because I'm *hopefully* off to Sheffield in September, but Sheffield is a great, cheap city with loads to do. Has LOTS of teaching hospitals around, Northern General is massive and Sheffield Children's Hospital as well as loads of others. And Uni of Sheffield was originally just a medical school, so it has it's roots firmly planted in medicine.
But you know what's best for you, I'm sure Newcastle is amazing too and I bet the nightlife there is crazy!

Both excellent medical schools -- have a look at how they both teach, do they both dissect/prosect/which do you prefer? Both decent locations -- Sheffield more scenic, quiet perhaps but also still good for students. Newcastle known for a good city life, good nights out!

Well Newcastle is a whole year less, so that's something to consider (in both time and money) Although having said that, you *might* be better off doing the foundation course if you haven't done Chemistry - I mean, surely there must be a reason as to why most medical schools want you to have this? I know that Sheffield's med school is quite well reputed for it's teaching quality - so have a look into that.
