I have already been to uni before but only a year and a half, i dropped out as i just wasnt happy. 3 years later and i have decided i want to go back, but on a different course at a different uni. The bad news is STudent finance wont fund me for my first year!! SO now i have no choice but to stick to the same subject and go straight in at second year! Even though this is not want i want to do. Can anyone tell me if this is my only option? Because i cannot afford to fund myself

    Hi Hermione,

Based on the info you've given your eligibility to a tuition fee loan in your first year does sound correct unfortunately.

It might be worth doing a bit of research to find out if you can be admitted onto any other courses using the credits you've acquired from your previous study. You might find that these are transferable at some universities meaning that you might not have to study from year 2 of the exact course you started originally.

It's probably worth a chat with uni admissions or a career adviser.

    Hope this helps,
    Mark-Lee

Thank you so much for the reply. I will speak to admissions. I was so upset when I found this out. I was looking forwar to starting a new course at a new uni and now that doesn't seem likely. I just hope they can accept my credits.
    Thank you again
