    Dear all,

I will be starting my extended project qualifications after Easter holiday, but I haven't any plan yet on what kind of topic I should do. My area of interests is the chinese economy since I want to pursue my higher education in Chinese and Economics or International Business as a joint degree (sounds like a bizarre combination!)

I would rather focus on one city in China like Shanghai - since I can include some other components such as Arts and History under the Economy areas, but no wander around the topic which will be based on the economy though..

So any great ideas are always welcome

    Shanghai's economic history maybe?
Like how it was hundreads of years ago, what types of industry were then into them, how much money they were making and how this all compare to now and then changes that have happened over the years.

Why/How has China become so influential and why are they expected to overtake US as the worlds largest superpower?
