Hi. So I'm kinda depressed over how I look and feel like I'm kind of stuck in a rut. I have a habit of wearing the same kind of thing everyday, wearing my hair in a boring way everyday and wearing no makeup. I've also gained weight since starting a levels. Everyone knows me to be like this but next September everyone I know is leaving to go to university whilst I am going a third year at college. I want to change the way I look and kind of mature I guess. You know girls seem to naturally go through that phase of being the awkward year seven to finding a hairstyle that suits them, makeup, and a clothing style like that looks good, etc. I never went through that phase. I'm still plain Jane.
What are some things I can do to improve my looks and has anyone else done a similar thing? What is a good way to dress and little things like that. I understand this is vain and conceited But I've spent the past year really focusing on my personality and I have overcome the chronic shyness and awkwardness of my early teens and I feel like I need to shed the image of the girl I used to be.

Embrace who you are and be an individual. Don't listen to how others tell you to be and don't think you should change for anyone. If you feel comfortable doing it, try looking at hairstyles, hair colours etc.. Go into a clothes shop and pick something up you'd never really wear and try it on.. And you might surprise yourself x
