Hi I am stuck on a question
The first part says draw the graphical formula of two alekenes formed when pentan-2-ol is heated with conc. sulphuric acid.
    I have drawn Pent-1-ene and Pent-2-ene
    Is this correct?

The next one is state the type of reaction taking place in a ii.
    I put Elimination.

And the one I am stuck on is:
Explain why the type of reaction taking place in a ii does not occur when 2,2-dimethylpropan-1-ol is heated with conc. sulphuric acid... HELP!

I'd say because it was a primary alcohol, along with the fact that you have the two methyl groups, the double bond required to create an alkene would be unable to form.
If you won £30,000, which of these would you spend it on?
