Does it matter what units you use as long as they are the correct type? e.g cm and mm

Use the units on the measuring scale you have, e.g. if the Voltmeter shows 35.41 mV you write 35.41 mV (uncertainty is plus or minus 0.01 mV), if you take a ruler measurement then you write to the nearest mm and uncertainty is to the nearest mm as well. Generally for lengths always write in mm unless they've already given you example readings in cm (or m).
