I'm staying at home as my uni is local, at least for the first year or two. So do I need to apply for the maintenance loan? I think my parents earn too much for me to get any grant.

My mum says I shouldn't as I'll only get in more debt and she doesn't think I'll need it. I want to get a car and she's also discouraging me from doing this but as I'm not moving away I think being able to drive and having a car will give me some independence which I may be losing out on by not moving away. (and just because i want to, too!)

I've read some posts on here and asked friends and they have said go for any money you are entitled to.

I'm interested in anyone's opinions and experience's and advice please, ThankYou

If you don't qualify for a grant you won't quality for much of a maintenance loan either so getting into debt isn't really much of a issue.

If your parents are quite happy to fund you don't get into debt.
