So basically I have written down on my Cv that I had a job which ended I'm November 2011 and I said I got paid whilst working then. Haven't been employed since with a paid job but working voluntary as had to help with family matters which only ended now! If I do get through an interview, can they check through my NI number if I was get paid and contributing tax during that time? As its over a year ago and landed two tax years ago, I'm not sure how else they can check. I have the reference sorted through a friend so if they email them its sorted, but I am really worried about the fact that I said I got paid then! Any response will be much welcomed!

    Ok 2 points.

1: Data protection why would the HMRC be giving out your personal information to any Tom, ****, or Harry?
2: Why lie about being paid or is the job itself fantasy? Surely volunteering would be respected if not more so particularly if you were to explain the circumstances at the time.

Lol. They can't really check where or if you was employed at a place you say. Only through references can they. And the most immediate post you finished is the important reference. Others can't really be verified unless you want them to. That's why they like people already employed/in education for jobs.
