    Food.

Famine. Malnutrition. Obesity. Gluttony. Anorexia. Genetic modification. Monsanto-monopoly. Climate change. Bio-fuels. Species extinction. Human overpopulation.

Deep down, if you think well, everything is related to food.
    Correction, water.

I'd be interested to hear how GM food, or even natural species extinction is a big problem?

Wa? Why are anorexia, bio-fuels and genetic modification on there?

Fashion, my friend. How plastic surgery has emerged as a fad is pretty scary enough. Wait for anorexia.
    I don't understand your point.

Whether you're measuring it by scope or by immediacy (as I pointed out), anorexia rates in neither in terms of what the "biggest global problem" is.

So today I was asked by my teacher to do a short essay on "The biggest problem faced by the world right now?" however I don't really have a clue what to write about. So if you could give me some suggestions that would be great! Thanks

    Water.

Uneven distribution will cause wars all over the world as the population grows and weather patterns change.

Imagine what would happen in India if the monsoons failed repeatedly or the Himalayan glaciers disappeared and major rivers like the Ganges dried up!

    Really? Seriously?

I like a good rant about Americans any day, but get real. There's nothing worse than people who think "white people" are the cause of all human suffering.
That's not what I'm saying but who are we to say our way of living is better than that of other cultures. We impart our way of living where it has no need. I'm not saying it's a problem or necessarily a bad thing but why do tribes people in rural Himalyas or Pakistan need an education? You go to school, uni, get a job just so you can earn money but money means nothing when you gather your own food, produce your own clothes and build your own house all with skills passed onto you from your elders. Sure helping people out with medicine etc. is great but who's to say the our way of living is better than theirs? Our Western values are just eradicating their cultures and traditions and making them part of the consumerisation which they have no need for.
