As far as I know corals need enough sun rays to initiate photosynthesis and to grow up. Some of them at least (symbiodinium). The temperature of the water is important for existence. You must keep it warm (24°C - 28°C). That's all what can I say about corals.

Cheers Kallisto. that is true to keep water at 24 - 28'c. Also sun rays are difficult to get in UK . monthly Heating and lighting expenses are consuming my student finance . But difficult to release my hobby though. . praying for sunny and warm UK weather always

That is the reason why they are exist in pacific, atlantic and Indian Ocean, as it exists a warm temperature of water over there. Don't forget to mention the warm climate. And even if you are able to afford lightning, it is not a good replacement to sun rays. Don't expect a good result.
