Hi, I've applied to stay in the queen margaret residences. The halls seem ok but I'm worried about trying to get to town from the residences. It's not really walkable so is there any nearby bus stops that take you into town?

Also, are there any nearby amenities? (shops, pubs, etc)

You mean to the main campus? It's perfectly walkable - I don't live near there but it's about 15 minutes I think. To get to the city centre, the subway is probably your best bet. Or if you're frugal like me, you can again walk.

the halls are about 5 minutes walk from a corner shop called churchills (which is best used for emergencies as it's rather pricey!) and 15 minutes walk to the heart of the west end; where you'll find plenty of supermarkets/pubs etc.

the university is a further 5 minutes walk. furthermore, the walk itself is lovely and takes you through the botanic gardens.

however, if you really can't walk 20 minutes through leafy suburban areas, there is a student bus service that runs from the halls to the uni several times a day.
