I am currently in third year at glasgow uni studying maths, however when I graduate I have been thinking about applying to do medicine. Is this unheard of and how will the universities react to my decision?

Maths is considered a science degree. It's a perfectly valid step to medicine from that and you'd be eligible for several graduate entry programs.

I presume you're doing a four year course, so you'd apply at the start of that year to begin medical school the following September, in which case you've only got a couple of months to sort out work experience, volunteering in a care environment and revision/entry to the relevant admissions exams (usually just UKCAT unless you have the time and money to revise for GAMSAT).

There's a lot of guidance on applying as a graduate on our wiki page
