Stockroom Assistant - will it help get me into Visual Merchandising? watch

    • Thread Starter

I'm looking at getting into visual merchandising and was wondering if a job as a stockroom assistant in a fashion store was a good way to get in?

Or what other ways in could you suggest?

I am currently doing a certificate in VM and have a background in design and advertising.

Any tips/thoughts would be much appreciated.

Well it's not direct experience of merchandising but it's related to fashion and therefore helpful to your career goal. And maybe once you've started you might be able to get some extra hours or transfer to a shop floor role? Although when I worked in a clothes shop the displays all came from head office and most of what I did was just picking stuff up off the floor.

There are a few 'trendy' charity shops around these days. If there's one in your town maybe you could offer your skills to them for a few hours a week?
