I'm in year 13 at the moment but I'm looking at spending my second year of university studying abroad. According the university website which I have firmed, you need to make your application in the first semester of your first year.
This is all good but I'm worried about committing to going abroad, plans falling through and then having nowhere to live for 2nd year because my friends would have made arrangements without me. I'm kind of concerned about this happening once I return, providing I would have spent a semester abroad. Do international offices at your home university usually help with finding accommodation for when you return?

Dont worry about this now. There will be lots of information and meetings about any potential Term/Year Abroad when you actually get to Uni. They will be able to address any worries you might have about it, and tell you how other people dealt with accommodation issues and all the other issues of time away etc.
