Fresher's week for me starts on the 16th of September but I'm not 18 until the 1st of October, will Fresher's week be a waste for me since I won't have ID to get into any night clubs or anything like that? I know there's more to fresher's week but obviously going out with new people is a huge part of it! So, waste or not?

    Did you skip a year??
And no one asks for ID any ways, they just assume your 18.
So don't run around screaming your not 18 and you'll be fine

Nope, I didn't skip a year. Hahaha, yeah, was pretty much planning on keeping it quiet anyway. Hopefully that's the case and no one asks for ID then! Thanks

Unless the Scottish education system is different to the English education system. You should be 18 by the time you start Uni then .

I think it is quite different actually, we sit our Highers here in our fifth year at secondary school so a lot of people will have the grades they need to get into University before their final year at school, meaning a lot of them could still be 17 by starting University. Or you could just have quite a late birthday.

There was a 17 year old with us during fresher, she can out with us in fresher. Everything was going well until she drunkly told the bouncer that she was actually 17. They actually called the police who escorted her back to halls. Was quite funny, but she did get a telling off from the uni.

So don't get drunk and scream that your 17 to the bouncers and you should be fine. :-)

Haha, aw no that's a shame but quite funny at the same time! Yeah, I'll be sure to keep an eye on any drunk ramblings that could ruin my night then! Thanks

It is rather different actually. I wasn't 18 when I started uni either, I started in September 2011 and wasn't 18 till that December. OP, freshers week is still good without drinking, you could just wing it and hope you dont get ID'd haha.

It's good to hear from someone that was actually in that position! I think I'll definitely still go and meet people and have a great time, I'll try and get into nightclubs and that but I won't let it bother me if I don't I suppose! Thanks
